Peter Beach was called to the Bar at Gray’s Inn London in 1970. From 1970 to 1973 he took a Master’s degree in Criminology at the University of Ottawa, where he was also President of the Student Federation.

He practiced as a Barrister in London from 1974 to 1982 conducting many jury trials including appearing at the Old Bailey. He is still a member of the English Bar.

In 1984, Peter was called to the Bar in Ontario and has practiced in criminal law ever since. He is an active member of the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa, the Criminal Lawyers Association, the Advocates Society, L’ Association des Juristes D’ Expression Francaise de L’Ontario,  and the County of Carleton Law Association

In 2014, Peter was elected as an Eastern Regional Law Society of Upper Canada Bencher.  He is an active member of the Legal Aid Working Group Committee, Tribunal Committee, and Audit and Finance Committee.

As a Regional Bencher Peter’s particular interests are; Sole Practitioners, small firms outside of Toronto, access to justice, particularly as it relates to Legal Aid Ontario, discipline and support for the Federation of Ontario Law Association.
